Raid Boss is our automated boss-fight game in Discord. A boss spawns on its own at a random time, the whole server fights it together over a couple of days, and it drops loot when it dies.

No gas and no transaction to join. You fight with buttons in the #octo-raids channel of our Discord.

### Who can play

Anyone in our Discord can watch the hunt in #octo-raids. Fighting is for holders: you need the verified-holder role, so hold an OctoPeeps NFT, join our Discord and verify your wallet, and the attack buttons are yours.

Anyone can follow the hunt on [octopeeps.com/raids](https://octopeeps.com/raids): the boss that is up right now with its live HP, the rules, every boss with its loot table and trophy, the Hall of Slayers and the history of past hunts.

### How a fight works

A boss appears in the raid channel with its own art and a health bar. Everyone attacks it using three abilities, each on its own cooldown:

* ⚔️ **Hit** - fast, short cooldown
* 🏹 **Double Shot** - harder, medium cooldown
* 💥 **Skill Attack** - the heavy one, long cooldown

Attacks can crit, and they can miss. The boss fights back: it can wound you, which slows how fast your abilities recharge. As its health drops it moves through states - healthy, damaged, enraged - and its art changes with it.

If nobody finishes it in time, the boss escapes and nobody gets the loot.

### Loot

Every slot rolls independently, and any of them can roll nothing:

* **POL** to the Slayer, whoever lands the killing blow
* **$FATH** to the top damage dealers
* **An Octo Kiddo NFT** to a random fighter who landed at least three hits
* **A trophy NFT** to the Slayer, see below

Rewards are paid out by hand from the community treasury. The bot rolls the loot and announces winners; it holds no keys and moves no funds on its own.

### Trophies

Every boss leaves a trophy NFT behind when it dies, and the Slayer keeps it. Each boss has its own trophy, from The Kraken's Amber Eye to The Megalodon's Tooth. Trophies are never sold and never minted publicly; seasonal bosses' trophies can only be won in their season.

Trophies are ERC-1155 tokens 68 and up on the [OctoPeeps Airdrops](/octopeeps/nfts/octopeeps-airdrops.md) contract on Polygon. The full list is on [octopeeps.com/raids](https://octopeeps.com/raids).

### Abyssal Shards

Every fighter earns shards when a boss goes down, based on damage dealt, with a floor for anyone who landed three or more hits and extra for the Slayer and the top three. If the boss escapes you still keep half.

Check yours with `/shards`.

### Deeper mechanics

The game has grown well past hit-the-boss:

* **Mutations** - bosses can spawn mutated, with the art overlaid to match
* **Omens** - signs during the wait before a spawn
* **Training** - `/train` between hunts builds daily readiness, which sharpens both your damage and your aim
* **Curses and blessings** - drops and debuffs that change how a fight plays out
* **Downed and revive** - go down in a fight and the crew can bring you back
* **Seasons** - seasonal bosses with their own named seasons and art
* **Secret bosses** - rare ones that only turn up occasionally, including a community-requested one
